Completing Your Exam Application

Email Address

When creating your Prolydian account, you will be required to provide a valid email address. We strongly recommend using a personal email address, rather than a work or company email, to ensure continued access to your account regardless of any future employment changes.

You must have access to this email address throughout the application and examination process. After account creation, you will receive a separate message requesting email verification. This step must be completed before you can proceed further.

Please note that this email address will be used for logging in to take the exam and for accessing your certificate upon successful completion.

Documentation

As part of the application process, you will be asked to provide information about your current or most recent employer, your total years of experience in the chimney industry, your NCSG membership status, and your certification history. If you do not know your membership number, we will verify it when your application is submitted.

Candidates for the CCJ are required to have one of the following current certifications for a minimum of three years (within 60 days of renewal):

• Certified Chimney Professional (CCP) as issued by the National Chimney Sweep Guild (NCSG)
• NFI Certification as issued by the National Fireplace Institute (NFI)
• Certified Chimney Sweep as issued by the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA)

You will also need to upload a color photograph of yourself. A head-and-shoulders photo taken against a solid background is recommended. This image will appear on both the certification ID card and the online certification directory once you are certified.

Photos taken with smartphones or similar devices are acceptable, provided they meet the basic quality and framing guidelines.

Application Fee

Upon completion of your application, you will be required to submit payment for the $50 application fee. This fee is non-refundable.

Exam Fee

Once your application has been approved a fee of $499 for NCSG members or $699 for non-members must be submitted to take your exam. If you’re not a member, it's not too late to join and be eligible for the lower application fee.

• The $499 member/$699 non-member application fee is non-refundable.

• Once an NCSG exam application is accepted, the candidate can test once within the next 6 months The exam application fee includes the cost of one examination within the next 6 months. If the candidate is retaking the exam within 6 months, an additional fee of $100 will be assessed.

• If the candidate does not sit for the exam within 6 months from the time the application is approved, the application becomes invalid, and a new application along with appropriate application fee(s) must be submitted.
